Hasbro, Inc. 2018 Renewable Energy and Greenhouse Gas Emissions Statement

September 4, 2018

Hasbro continues its commitment to using renewable energy and achieving carbon neutrality across its owned and operated global operations. Hasbro purchased 24,681 megawatt-hours (MWh) of renewable energy certificates (RECs) to address 98.8 percent1 of its 2017 global electricity consumption. Additionally, the company purchased carbon offsets in 2017 to address its global carbon footprint. Cumulatively, this reduction in Hasbro’s carbon footprint is similar to growing 736,051 trees per year for 10 years or not using 66,759 barrels of oil.

RECs are “currency” of the renewable energy market, representing all of the environmental and social attributes of renewable energy generation. Hasbro purchased RECs and carbon offsets from 3Degrees, the nation’s leading provider of comprehensive clean energy services that enable organizations and individuals to transition towards a low-carbon economy.

The renewable energy certificates are from a mix of renewable resources including wind, solar, biomass, landfill gas, or hydroelectric sources and were independently verified and certified by the appropriate international standards agencies, including Green-e Energy National Standard, European Energy Certificate System, the I-REC Standard and the Climate Action Reserve.
